Sha Shur Monastery is located just 2 kilometres from Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti and 37 kilometres from Manali.
About Monastery
The Meaning of Sha Shur is "blue pines" in the local dialect. You can see the patches of blue pine around the monastery. Lama Deva Gyatsho of Zangskar was founded this Monastery in the 17th century. Lama Deva Gyatsho was a missionary of Nawang Namgyal. This monastery has large Thangka paintings, some of them over fifteen feet, and wall paintings.
