In Tibetan language Tayul translates into the chosen place. Tayul Monastery was built in 17th century. Tayul Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in the valley. This Monastery is famous for the beautiful 12 foot statue of Guru Padmasambhava, and his 2 manifestations as Singhmukha and Vajravahi. Tayul Monastery is decorated with elaborate murals.
This monastery has a library, where you can see the collection of important books and scriptures, as well as some beautiful Tibetan paintings.
