About Temple
Baijnath Temple is lying in the ancient town of Baijnath. It is a 12th century temple on the banks of Gomti River and it one of the old and ancient temple in this area. The complex of Baijnath Temple is decorated with delicate and intricate carvings. Katyuri kings constructed this temple with stone. The main temple that houses the beautiful idol of Parvati is chiseled in black stone. The idols in the temple are amazingly carved that it appears to be speaking with us.
History of Temple
The Baijnath Temple holds the significance, according to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva and Parvati were married at the confluence of River Gomati and Garur Ganga.
