Shimla Attraction - Kufri
Kufri is famous for trekking and skiing in the months of winter in Shimla. Kufri is a tiny hill station in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh state in India. It is a hotspot for its awesome scenic and sports activities.
Location
Kufri is located 13 km from the state capital Shimla on the National Highway No.22. It is situated at an elevation of 2510 meters above sea level.
About Kufri
Kufri name is derived from the work "Kufr" meaning a lake in the local language. Some People believed that Kufri is a heaven for the tourists as the place is endowed with rippling fountains, mountains, splashing rivers, green alpine meadows, peaks draped with snow. People enjoy the this glorious seens. Kufri has also become an ideal picnic spot over the years. In Kufri there is a Potato Research Center. It was the part of Nepal long ago. In Month of February, Annual Winter Festival is also organised in Kufri with great enthusiasm and gaiety.
Attraction
Himalayan Nature Park is one the main tourist attraction in Kufri. Here you visit the musk deer, ibex, ghoral (goat-like stout animal), black and brown bears and pheasants.
Here you also enjoy the Indira Tourist Park. It is near to Himalayan Nature Park and provides panoramic view of the locations around.
Mahasu Peak is also another tourist attraction of Kufri. It is a highest peak in Kufri.
Chini Bunglow is another attraction of Kufri and famous for its statues and architecture.
Winter Sports In Kufri
Kufri’s a great place for winter sports. Here you can enjoy the Skiing.Kufri has a oldest ski slopes in the whole of Himachal.Here you can also enjoy tobogganing, hiking and horse riding here. Some time in month of January Kufri holds the National Snow Statue Competition. It is sometimes called the 'Switzerland of India'.
