Shimla Attraction - Gorton Castle
Gorton Castle is a 100-year-old majestic building in Shimla. It was the Secretariat Building of Government of India. Gorton Castle is yet another masterpiece of the British architecture. Presently it is a official building of the Accountant General of Himachal Pradesh.

Gorton Castle is located on the Mall Road.
Design of Gorton Castle
In year 1904, Gorton Castle was built. This historic building was designed and constructed in a Gothic style. The Castle has the traditional “Rajasthan Jaali (net)” work on balconies. It is a three storied building and speard over the area of 400 feet x 100 feet with about 125 rooms. To construct this building used the Sanjauli stone and is surrounded by rosewood timber blocks. These metrial were brought from Andaman Islands.

Main highlight of this Castle is the 'Rajasthan jaali' work on balconies.
