Manali Attraction - Jagannathi Devi Temple
Jagannathi Devi Temple is an old Temple and situated at an altitude of 1,800 m above sea level. Jagannathi Temple is situated at Bhekhli, just 12 km from Kullu. 1500 years ago this temple was built. Temple is dedicated to Maa Bhuweneshawari. Bhuweneshawari was the sister of Lord Vishnu. The temple provides a panoramic view of Kullu town from above.
Design of Temple
Temple wall design is carved with the various images of Maa Durga. Achitecture of this temple is reflects the local architectural style of Jammu and Kashmir. Idols in this temple is reflect the Gaddi tribal and Rajasthani influences
History
According to legend. A shepherd boy was play a flute every day. Accidentally he saw that two girls danced to its flute dhoon and he got hold of one of the them. Goddess Bhuweneshawari revealed her identity. At last she decided to settle in the village at Bekhli. In memeory of Maa Bhuweneshawari this temple was constructed.
The altitude of Jagannathi Devi Temple or the Bekhli Temple is above 1800 meter. Manay tourist came here to see the holy dharshan of the gorgeous deity.
